Every price, rating and review count re-checked against Viator on 22 September 2026
Everything we recommend across the site, gathered in one place and grouped by what you are actually trying to do rather than by who sells it. Every product here is compared against its alternatives in one of our guides, and the guide is linked at the top of each section.
The lowest advertised price is not always the best value, and where a cheaper option is rated worse, or where we think you should buy elsewhere, the card says so instead of quietly leaving it out. For the free walking tours the low price is real but tip-based: budget a tip on top of the booking fee. Prices are what Viator showed in euros on the date above; they move, and the forint ones move faster.
Thermal baths
All eleven baths compared, with who each one actually suits, in the thermal baths guide. Szechenyi has its own page, and so does Rudas.
One thing that applies to every ticket below: since August 2025 four of the baths, Szechenyi included, are 14+. Take a younger child to Palatinus or Paskal instead, which is why both are on this list.

Private Entrance to Szechenyi Spa, with Optional Massage
The postcard bath, booked ahead with a private entrance so you skip the counter, with an optional massage add-on. The 3.76 is not a glowing score and 2,351 reviews is a large enough sample to believe it: the recurring complaint is crowding, not the water. Buying at the counter on the day is usually a little cheaper if you are happy to queue.

Full-Day Admission to Budapest Lukacs Thermal Bath
A full-day ticket to the bath Budapest residents actually use, bought ahead rather than at the counter. Thirty-eight reviews is a thin sample and the 3.63 reflects a plainer building, not worse water. This is the one to pick if the point of the day is soaking rather than photographs.

Budapest Palatinus Bath Full-Day Admission
The open-air strand on Margaret Island, which is a summer water park with thermal pools rather than a historic bath house. It is one of the two on this page a family with young children can actually use. Twenty-five reviews, so treat the score as provisional.

Paskal Bath Thermal and Wellness Spa Entrance Ticket
The most modern of the older baths, out in Zuglo and open daily from about 06:00 to 20:00. Nobody has reviewed this listing yet, which is the honest reason it sits at the bottom of this group: we are showing it because it solves the under-14 problem, not because the evidence is strong.

Beer Spa with Unlimited Beer + Szechenyi Add-on
A beer spa tub with unlimited beer, sold combined with Szechenyi entry. At 4.42 across 526 reviews it is better evidenced than most novelty add-ons in this city. Worth checking the sum against buying the two separately before you book.

Rudas Bistro Gastro-Wellness
Brunch beside the pools at Rudas, packaged with bath access. Two caveats we would rather state than bury: eleven reviews is barely a sample, and at nearly 105 euros this is many times the price of a plain Rudas ticket. Take it as a meal with a view, not as the cheap way into the bath.
Ruin bars and nightlife
Every bar in District VII compared, including the ones that have quietly closed, in the ruin bars guide. Szimpla Kert, the one everybody means, has its own page.
A guided crawl is the normal way to see several of these in one night. What separates them is not the bars, which overlap heavily, but the length, the group and what is included at the door.

Budapest Ruin Pub Crawl: 6 Free Shots, VIP Entries and Drinking Games
The highest rating on the whole page, 4.95 across more than a thousand reviews, and the cheaper of the two crawls here. Six hours, six shots and VIP entry to Instant-Fogas. This is the one we would book.

Budapest Original Ruin Pub Crawl Including 5 Shots
Five hours, five shots and a guide who gets you past the doors, at 4.78 across 542 reviews. Be clear what it is: a night out with a group of strangers in their twenties, not a tour of the Jewish Quarter, and nobody will be looking at the architecture.

Budapest Ruin Bars Evening Walking Tour with Drinks and Street Food
Three hours rather than five, with drinks and street food, guided around the Jewish Quarter. It costs roughly six times the shot crawls and attracts a completely different person: this is for understanding why the ruin bars ended up where they did. The recurring praise is for the guides.

The Original Budapest Pub Crawl
Four hours, several bars, a guide and a group, at 19 euros discounted from 20. Shorter than the crawl above, dearer than it, and rated 4.20 against 4.95.
Buda Castle and Fisherman's Bastion
Castle Hill, what is inside the palace and what is free, in the Buda Castle guide. The turrets everybody photographs have a page of their own, including which parts you never need to pay for.
Worth knowing before you book any of these: the Bastion terraces are free except for the upper towers, and Matthias Church charges separately at the door. That is what the last two cards here are buying you.

Budapest Castle District Walking Tour
Two hours around the hill with a guide at a price that is essentially a booking fee. It is the highest-rated Castle Hill product we found and it rests on 676 reviews, which is the combination we trust most. Tip-based, so budget something for the guide at the end.

Free Walking Tour in the Buda Castle, incl. Fisherman's Bastion
The same idea from a different operator, a token booking fee plus a tip, and 542 reviews at 4.80 behind it. Pick whichever of the two starts at the hour that suits you; on the numbers there is very little in it.

Buda Castle District Walk with Entry to Matthias Church
Same district, with Matthias Church entry included and guided rather than bought at the door. That is the whole reason to pay 61 euros instead of three: if you were going inside the church anyway, the gap is smaller than it looks.

Buda Castle Dark History, Legends and Vampire Night Tour
A completely different proposition: the hill after dark, told through its executions, plagues and legends. The 4.60 is good rather than glowing, but 1,448 reviews is more than double any other Castle Hill product, so you know what you are getting. Best as a second pass, once you have walked the hill in daylight.
Parliament and the Danube
How the Parliament visit actually works, what it costs and why the official system sells out, in the Parliament guide. The boats are compared operator by operator in the Danube cruise guide, and the island loop in the Margaret Island guide.
Read the Parliament card below with your passport in hand. The official box office charges roughly half as much for an EEA citizen as for everyone else, so whether booking here is a small premium or more than double depends entirely on which of the two you are.

Hungarian Parliament Audio Guided Tour
The forty-five minute audio-guided visit, booked ahead so you are not relying on the Visitor Centre, which was sold out a week deep when we checked. Against the box office this is a small premium for a non-EEA adult and more than double for an EEA one. Rating 4.07 across 195 reviews, and the recurring complaint is the pace, not the building. Photo ID is checked at the door.

Budapest Danube River Sightseeing Night Cruise with Drink
An hour past Parliament, the Chain Bridge and Buda Castle lit up, with a drink included. The 4,120 reviews are what make this easy to recommend: it is by far the biggest sample of any product on this site, so the 4.32 is evidence rather than a handful of happy customers.

Budapest Danube Cruise and Dinner, Live Music and Dance
Ninety minutes with dinner and live music, at 4.66 across 7,573 reviews, which is a bigger sample than most attractions in this city manage. At 49 euros it is also the cheapest way into the dinner format by some margin, with the candlelit versions running to 110.

Budapest: 1-Hour Highlights Cruise with Welcome Drink
The same hour on the same river for about half the price of the best-known operator, drink included. There are listings at 9 and 12 euros, but they rest on a few hundred reviews or score in the 3.6 to 3.8 range; 4.13 across 2,508 is the best price-to-evidence ratio we found.

Margaret Island Loop Cruise with a Drink
Ninety minutes looping Margaret Island rather than doing the standard Parliament run, drink included. At 14 euros it is the cheapest Danube cruise on this page, and it is the one thing you cannot do on the island on foot, since the island itself is free and flat. The 4.91 rests on 23 reviews, which is thin.
Food, markets and tastings
What is worth buying inside the Great Market Hall, and what to ignore on the tourist floor, in the market guide, which is where the first two are compared. The other two are the city-wide food tours from the things to do guide.
These are the four best-evidenced food products in the city and they are genuinely different things: one is about the building, three are about Budapest with the market as a first stop.

Great Market Hall Chef-Led Private Tasting Tour
Two hours, private, led by a chef, and the only well-reviewed product we found that is specifically about this building rather than a city food tour passing through it. The 4.97 rests on 78 reviews, a small but respectable sample. The closer fit if your interest is the hall itself.

Budapest Food Tour: Market Walk, Local Drinks & 20+ Tastings
Two and a half hours that start in the market and carry on into the city, with more than twenty tastings and drinks. At 4.99 across 205 reviews it has the best combination of score and sample of any Budapest food tour we have checked, and it is still cheaper than the better-known ones. It went from 74 to 79 euros in September 2026.

Budapest Food Tour: Market to Tavern with 12+ Tasters & Wines
Three hours, twelve or more tastings and wines, ending in a tavern rather than the market. At 4.90 across 738 reviews the evidence is strong, and the recurring praise is for the pacing: fewer stops, longer at each.

Budapest Food Tour with 8+ Tastings & Local Wine
Three hours, eight or more tastings and local wine. The number that matters is 863 reviews at 4.91, a large enough sample to trust, which is not true of most food experiences in this city. It is also the dearest of the four.
Churches and concerts
The basilica, the dome and the saint's hand, in the St Stephen's Basilica guide. The organ concert is also the answer to what to do when the opera house is dark, which is covered in the opera house guide.
The basilica asks for a donation at the door rather than a ticket, so read the first card for what the paid version is actually buying: the queue, and the dome.

St Stephen's Basilica Skip-The-Line Tickets
Timed entry with the queue skipped. Worth being straight about it: the nave asks a suggested donation rather than a fixed ticket, so what you are paying for here is the line and the panorama terrace, not access to the church itself. 4.56 across 204 reviews.

Organ Concert in St Stephen's Basilica
Seventy minutes of organ in a church that has programmed music since it was consecrated in 1905. Read the 4.17 across 190 reviews honestly: people who wanted a recital love it, people who expected a spectacle less so. It is the option when the opera season is shut, not a replacement for a night at the opera, and it costs about what a cheap opera seat does.
The Jewish Quarter
What the 14,500 HUF ticket includes, which days the complex is shut and why the official price contradicts itself, in the Great Synagogue guide. The bars that now fill the same streets are in the ruin bars guide.
Unusually for this city, neither of these carries a markup: both match the operator's own 2026 prices to within half a euro, so booking ahead buys the queue rather than costing extra.

Dohany Synagogue & Hungarian Jewish Museum, priority entry
Priority entry to the whole Dohany complex, which is six things behind one wall, plus the free 45-minute guided tour. At 39.49 euros it is 46 cents under the 14,500 HUF door price rather than over it. The 4.37 is honest rather than glowing and the recurring complaint is the price, not the visit.

Dohany, Heroes' and Rumbach synagogues & Jewish Ghetto tour
The longer programme: the same complex plus the Rumbach synagogue and a guided walk through the former ghetto. Better rated than the one above on a similar sample. It is also the only way into Rumbach between 1 November and 31 March, when it closes except on Sundays.
Gellert Hill and the Citadella
The Citadella reopened in 2026 and the hours now come in three tiers, which is all in the Gellert Hill guide, along with the family-ticket arithmetic and the Cave Church at the foot.
Almost everything up there is free, so there is only one product worth listing: the one that deals with the 235-metre climb rather than reselling a view you can walk to.

Citadella and Gellert Hill Segway Tour
Ninety minutes up and around the hill without doing the climb on foot. We list it because the gradient is the only real obstacle on Gellert: everything it reaches at the top is free to walk into anyway, and the paid exhibition is not included. The 5.0 rests on only 35 reviews, a thin sample by the standards of anything else on this page. The operator illustrates it with a photograph of Heroes' Square, which is not on this route.
Underground and the communist city
The bunker hospital under Castle Hill, and what the ticket does and does not include, in the Hospital in the Rock guide. The communist city is covered in the House of Terror guide, and Memento Park in the day trips guide.
The caves are not Castle Hill. Both caving products run in the Buda Hills, a bus ride out, which is the single most common misunderstanding about them.

Adventure Caving under Budapest
Overalls, helmet and headlamp, three hours of climbing and squeezing through the cave system in the Buda Hills. No experience needed, but this is exercise, not sightseeing. The 4.92 rests on 355 reviews, the strongest combination of any underground product we found.

Private Cave Walking Tour in Budapest
The same hills without the crawling: a guided walk on made-up paths, in ordinary clothes, three hours including the trip out. Sensible if the caves interest you but you have no intention of getting into a boiler suit. The rating is high but rests on 57 reviews, so treat it as promising rather than proven.

Guided Tour with Admission in Memento Park
Admission to Memento Park with a guide, which matters more here than at most places: it is a field of decontextualised statues, and without someone explaining what each one was for it reads as a sculpture park. 4.97 across 67 reviews. Getting there on your own is cheap and slow.

Communist Budapest Walking Tour
Three hours on foot with a historian, capped at eight people, on goulash communism and why Hungary was called the happiest barrack in the Soviet bloc. Two honest caveats: 105 euros is a lot for a walking tour, and 24 reviews is a small sample however good the average looks. What you are paying for is the group size and the guide.
The city pass
Whether the Budapest Card pays for itself depends entirely on whether your trip is museums or sights, and we ran the arithmetic on two real itineraries in the Budapest Card guide.
It is listed here for completeness, with the warning it deserves: this is the one product on the page that is cheaper bought direct.

Budapest Card with voucher delivery
Shown for comparison rather than recommendation. The cheapest listing here is 56 euros against 49.25 for the 24-hour card bought straight from BKK, about 14 per cent more, and at 3.46 across 248 reviews it is the worst-rated product on this page. What it adds is free cancellation and a voucher before you fly. If you do not need either, buy it from BKK.
Day trips
Every destination compared on distance, transport, cost and whether it is worth a full day, in the day trips guide. That page also gives the train and bus numbers, so you can price the independent version against these before booking.
Two of the six are shared departures and four are private cars priced per group, so compare the per-group prices against the size of your party rather than against each other.

Szentendre Daytrip (Artists' Village), Small Group
Five hours in the artists' town in a small group, at 4.68 across 200 reviews. Szentendre is also the easiest of all these to do alone, on the HEV suburban train, so book this for the guiding rather than the transport.

Danube Bend: Day Trip from Budapest
Esztergom, Visegrad and Szentendre in one day with a guide. The 3.99 across 155 reviews is the weakest score in this section and the reason is in the reviews: it is a long day with a lot of coach. It currently runs by road while the seasonal Danube boat is suspended.

Danube Bend Private Tour: Artsy Szentendre and Scenic Visegrád
Szentendre and Visegrad by private car with stops at the viewpoints, five hours. Better rated and cheaper than the private tour below, 4.88 against 4.77 and 127 euros against 145, on a smaller sample of 73 reviews. Take it if the hills interest you as much as the towns.

Private Guided Tour to Szentendre and Visegrád Castle
Four hours, private guide, the same two towns on foot rather than from a car. The most-reviewed Danube Bend product we found, still on a modest sample of 104. The walking version of the card above, at a higher price.

Gödöllő Palace: Royal 'Sisi' Residence Half-Day Tour
Half a day at the Grassalkovich Palace, the summer residence of Empress Elisabeth, at 4.60 across 133 reviews. Godollo is a straightforward suburban train ride from Ors vezer tere, so the value here is the guiding and the timing, not the access.

Private Tour from Budapest to Lake Balaton
A full day at Lake Balaton by private car, Tihany included, at 4.75 across 84 reviews. This is the trip where a car genuinely helps: the lake is big, the interesting villages are spread along the north shore and the trains only reach some of them.
Vienna and Bratislava
The train is almost always the right answer for Budapest to Vienna, and that guide gives the real fares, times and how many services a day run. These three exist for the case where the guide says a tour makes sense: when you are based in Vienna and want one long day in Budapest, or when the boat itself is the point.
Note the direction of travel. Two of these depart from Vienna, not from Budapest.

Budapest Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna
Twelve hours door to door from Vienna, in a small group rather than a coach, at 4.86 across 591 reviews. That combination is why we pick it over cheaper options on the same route. Be clear-eyed about what a day trip is: you will see the Parliament, the castle district and the river, and you will not see the inside of a thermal bath.

From Vienna: Guided Day Trip to Bratislava and Budapest
Bratislava and Budapest from Vienna in a single day, 4.66 across 169 reviews. It is a lot of road for one day and the Budapest half is correspondingly short, but it is the only way to put both cities into a trip that is anchored in Vienna.

Bratislava Day Trip from Vienna with Catamaran Cruise on the Danube
The only scheduled Danube boat you can realistically ride on this stretch, and we are showing the rating rather than hiding it: 3.59 across 752 reviews is the lowest score anywhere on this page, and 752 people is a large enough sample to take seriously. Two things the listing says and the reviews confirm: the catamaran leg runs in summer only, and outside it you are on a bus both ways; and the coach carries up to 45. Book it for the boat, in summer, or do not book it. Passport needed for Slovakia.
Christmas markets
Which markets are worth the walk, what the food costs and when they close on Christmas Eve, in the Christmas markets guide. The 2026 dates were still unpublished as of September.
Worth knowing before you book either: these run for about six weeks a year, so they carry far fewer reviews than anything else on this page. If the tastings are the appeal rather than the Christmas theme, the food tours further up run through December too, on samples twenty times the size.

Budapest Christmas Walking Tour & Entry to St Stephen's Basilica
Two and a half hours around the central markets with basilica entry included. The most-reviewed Christmas market tour we found, and twenty reviews is still a small sample.

Budapest Christmas Market Tour with Basilica Visit & Chimney Cake
The same route with chimney cake and mulled wine tastings included. Rated higher, on a similarly small number of reviews, and it costs about forty per cent more.
